Leaving for Lunch Opportunity by Penelope Grob
Many kids at Saugatuck Public Schools say that they think they should be respected and trusted to leave campus for lunch. While interviewing a few 9th grade students, many stated that they want to be seen like everyone else and be able to get better food, some fresh air, and a nice break out of school.
9th grade Annalise Acencio says, “Since we are in high school, we should be responsible enough to leave campus if we have transportation.”
Another 9th grader named Maggie Loomis says, “I think that leaving for lunch would be good because it gives students a chance to spread out. You also will be able to get much better food than what's in the cafeteria, as well as the fresh air outside would be wonderful to acess.
Martinez sisters, 9th graders Brianna and Tatiana, both say how they would like to have a lunch hour where they can get out of school, however they are curious if all students will use their time for lunch correctly.
