Exchange Students’ Feelings About Basketball by Chiara Marangoni
This year the varsity basketball team has a great number of players; they number sixteen, and five of them are exchange students: Ellen Martinsson, Anna Devisme, Daniela Nkurunziza, Chiara Marangoni and Iceko.
This is a unique situation, but the basketball leaders are doing a really great job teaching and including the new students.
The interviewed exchange students concluded that the practices are hard but fun. All of them have a great attitude and the desire to learn this sport.
Daniela played basketball before. She started when she was four, but she had to stop. Despite this, she always played with her dad. She is really excited for the basketball season. “Basketball means a lot to me and my dad taught me since I was little,” she said.
This is the first time for Ellen, and she is enjoying basketball. She already did four practices and now she is starting to feel comfortable with the basics of basketball. She likes the atmosphere during practice and the girls on the team are very supportive of her.
Anna was a little nervous for her first practice, which is understandable. She is doing really great, and Coach Chris already told her that she can become a really good defender player. Her best skills are her speed and her strength.
Our exchange students were very brave to join this time and they are doing very well. Come to our games and support our team!
